Defrag for SQL Servers inside a Virtual Machine?

sorry for asking here, since there's no forum for Virtual Server

My question is

We have 2 SQL Server instances on 2 Virtual Machine/Servers (say VM1 and VM2), which resides on a real physical machine (say A)

Is there point in defragging VM1 or VM2's hard drive at all?

or should I just defrag on the physical machine A?

You want to make sure the VMs are down (stopped) then defrag the physical machine. That would be all you need.|||

that's what I thought anyway, first time I defragged without shutting VMs down, I got a blue screen on 1 VM

second time I defragged still without shutting VMs down, everything went smoothly

I guess it's safer to shut down the VMs anyway

defining background color in matrix

Hi All
In my report there is a dynamic matrix.
two section inside the data region need to be paint in two different
color.
i defined an Expression in the background properties.
the Expression define two ranges(four cordinates) in order to paint one
section
and more two ranges for the other section.
the problem occour while examine the data come from the DB. in those
junction
that there was no data involve the cell was'nt paint although it is in
the
range
of the painting.
i try to solve this by using the " is nothing" function but without any
successes.
one solution i had which is works was declaring temporary table int he
procedure ,addind rows to the temporary table plus the data it self
while
running
and then in the report to blank those cells by filter them.it work's
paint
those cells but damage the subtotal line(because new rows were adding
to the
table source).
if any knows how to solve this conflic i will very much appreciate
this.

Defining an event inside of an assembly => UNSAFE (no workarounds?)

Can someone verify that an assembly containing an interface with an event definition, such as...

public interface A {
event EventHandler Foo;
}

... can never be loaded under SAFE or EXTERNAL_ACCESS ?

It appears that the compiler-generated add_xxx and remove_xxx have the MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.Synchronized) attribute defined by default, and "Explicit synchronization is not allowed". The same limitation also applies to classes by default, although technically one is able to define the implementation directly (clearly not ideal).

That's exactly correct. There is some possibility in the future that the CLR could change the way they implement EventHandler synchronization to allow it in non-unsafe assemblies, but for now that is the restricition.
